I have been searching for a mentor to help further my journey with horses for about 10 years, but had not found someone I could believe in.

Finding a mentor was even more important now as I am the only Police Community Support Officer in Northamptonshire and possibly the country to patrol on my own horses in full uniform as part of my daily duty.

My horses have not had any official police training, I therefore take the responsibility of having safe reliable horses very seriously and while they are extremely good, and I am very proud of them, I knew they deserve me to be better.

I chose this photo because I had been sitting on this box having a cup of tea when Dream appeared and put herself on it. By standing up on this box she could see over the tops of the stables to the fields behind, which she loves to do.

Dream had developed enough trust and confidence to step up onto the box to enjoy the view without having to ask my permission, wait to be asked or having an expectation of a food reward. She did it for her own gain and enjoyment and we happily shared the box together, which is why I love this photo.
